"We must stand for what is right and just and kind to all groups in this land as God may give us wisdom and consecration and devotion.  Increasingly we must realize that the work of our Missions is not for the African but a partnership with the African.  Paternalism in Mission work dies hard.  It is of the utmost importance that we turn over more and more of the responsibility of the work to the African leaders and people themselves."

"The Changing Face of Christianity:  Africa, the West, and the World" by Lamin Sanneh, and Joel A. Carpenter

Books by Dr. Paul Brand and Philip Yancey:

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made, In His Image, The Gift of Pain, In The Likeness of God.

Dr. Pail Brand was a missionary in Asia and a world-renowned hand surgeon and leprosy specialist. He compares the human body to the functioning of the body of Christ. Just as blood cleanses the human body by capturing waste products, brings them to the lungs for cleansing and distribution to the rest of the organs, so the "blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all unrighteousness".

Books by Alan Patton: Cry, the Beloved Country, Too Late the Phalarope, Tales From a Troubled Land, South Africa Tragedy.

A native son of South Africa, Alan Patton, was born in 1903, became a teacher and served as principal of the Diekloof Reformatory School in Johannesburg for 12 years before producing his masterpiece: Cry the Beloved Country, which was made into a movie.  It is a book of human nature at its worst and best; of man’s humanity and inhumanity; of building a philosophy of life that can overcome hatred through love and compassion.

Blow Wind, Burn Candle, by Judson Merritt, missionary with SAGM and the African Evangelical Fellowship, worked in the Eastern District of Zimbabwe

The Bible in Ndau language

Clyde J. Dotson spent over fifteen years translating the Holy Bible into the language of the people he served, in Southern Rhodesia.

"The job requires extensive knowledge and experience in academic and religious topics like Biblical language and culture, exegesis, cultural anthropology, and textual criticism. The job also requires practical, business skills like project management, conflict resolution, mediation, and mentoring. Also, don’t forget to add in practical and theoretical linguistics. Translation consultants come alongside translation teams, working verse-by-verse through their translations helping solve all types of linguistic, historical, cultural, and theological problems. It is a job that requires diligence in balancing compassion with academic know-how—and results in clear, accurate, and natural translations." ~On-going plea for translators through the The Word for the World

A Case for Christ and A Case for a Creator by Lee Strobel

Lee Strobel was an award-winning legal journalist for the Chicago Tribute and an atheist.  Through an intelligent search for truth over many years, he was able to come to the conclusion that there is most definitely a God who is personal and loving.  He is now a pastor and writer of many bestselling books exploring the bases for the Christian Faith.

Kisses From Katie by Katie Davies

Katie Davies says,  “People who really want to make a difference in the world usually do. They hold the unshakable conviction that every life matters.  They get excited over one smile… feeding one stomach, educating one mind, and treating one wound.  They don’t set out to revolutionize the world, but over time, the small changes add up… and sometimes transform cities and nations and the world”.   This book is about a young high school student who asked to go on a mission trip to a small town in Uganda during Christmas beak of her senior year.  While teaching kindergarten, she noticed a number of the children couldn’t attend school.  So she created a worldwide sponsorship program for children’s expenses for school, food and medical bills. Katie fell in love with the people of Uganda and still lives there.

WHERE IS THY BROTHER?

Where is thy brother?  God asked a young man

In the beginning of time, in a far off land

I know not, am I the keeper of my brother?

I love my own life, and care not for another.

Where is thy brother?  God asks us today

As we rush through life, and seek our own way.

Thy brother is hungry, do you hear his cry?

Is it nothing to you, all you that pass by?

Thy brother is sick, his body filled with pain

He has nothing to pay, so forget worldly gain.

It is God, who has given you the power to heal,

But he may want you to serve on a foreign field.

Thy brother needs teaching for he gropes in the dark

The light that he has is only a spark

Our Lord had compassion when he saw the needs

Will you follow his example and go where he leads?

Thy brother is lost, his idol cannot save

There is no hope for him beyond the grave.

Is it your fault he has never heard

The Good News contained in God's Holy Word?

The cries of the world fall on your ears

Their hands are outstretched, their eyes full of tears

Thy brother's blood, from wounds unbound

Cries out again from the ground.

Ruistu Mission, 2013

Published on Jul 25, 2013

by Dambudzo Mushambi

The Mission trip to Rusitu (in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe) is about a bunch of people who love Jesus and want to share His love with others in practical ways. Most of us will leave from Cape Town on a three day road trip that will take us across South Africa and deep into Zimbabwe. Rusitu valley has a mission station established many years ago. At that mission station is a Church, Bible College, hospital and high school. There is also a primary school that services the area. With the Lord's help, we would like to serve the people in whatever way we can. Check out the video to see how you can help and be praying!

Zimbabwe Pastor Victor Chambela and His Mission Outreach

In spite of the poverty and limited resources in the country of Zimbabwe, brave pastors
like Victor Chambela continue to take a holistic approach to
 missions by fulfilling the command
given by Jesus Christ to “minister to
the least of these.”  Pastor Victor says, “It is God’s desire that all humankind come to the Kingdom of Light.  In His kingdom there is love and peace and power.  Our call is to rescue people who live in darkness.”  Victor and his church operate
an orphanage, a prison ministry and a
food program for the hungry.
Although they do not have a food
truck, they drive for many miles in
their truck to feed people in remote
areas and squatters’ villages.
